A Winter sleeping bag for your baby - ensures safe sleep even at low temperatures

When the cold season starts, your baby needs to be wrapped up extra warm at night without overheating. A Slumbersac baby sleeping bag for Winter provides cosy warmth during the night, but is breathable at the same time so that heat cannot build up inside the sleeping bag.

Our warmly lined winter sleeping bags in 3.5 Tog are made of 100% cotton inside and out and lined with breathable polyester fleece, which allows air circulation and ensures a comfortable sleeping climate for your baby. Our baby sleeping bags are also remarkably light despite the thick lining. This ensures that your little one can sleep warmly and safely at night without sweating.

Baby winter sleeping bags are available with detachable sleeves, depending on how you and your child prefer them. Our sleeveless winter sleeping bags can also be combined with our sleeping bag sleeves which can be purchased separately.

How warm/thick should a baby sleeping bag be in Winter?

Slumbersac sleeping bags are classified and manufactured according to the English TOG system. Tog is a unit of measurement for the thermal resistance of textiles. The larger the Tog size, the warmer the sleeping bag will keep you.

A Winter Sleeping Bag has a Tog rating of 3.5, making it suitable for winter and room temperatures below 18 degrees.

It is quite normal for babies to often have cool hands and feet when they sleep. This is no cause for concern. The best place to find out if your baby is comfortably warm is at the nape of the neck. Your baby shouldn't feel either cold or sweaty here. You can learn more about Tog and room temperature in our Tog Guide.

What size sleeping bag does my baby need?

We offer baby sleeping bags and sleeping bags with feet in six different sizes for newborn babies up to children of ten years old. When choosing the right size sleeping bag, your little one should be able to kick and wriggle freely in the sleeping bag, giving enough room for freedom to move and kick when sleeping. Ideally, your child's feet should be positioned at 3/4 of the sleeping bag, leaving the bottom quarter of the sleeping bag 'empty'.

It is particularly important to pay attention to the size of the neckline so that your baby cannot slip into the sleeping bag, as would be the case if the neckline were too large, and so that there is no danger of strangulation due to a neckline that is too narrow. There is also a rule of thumb for this - the neckline should be about big enough to fit a finger between the neck and the neckline.

The armholes should also fit the size of the sleeping bag - armholes that are too big cause more heat loss and there is a risk that your baby can slip into the sleeping bag while sleeping.
Up to age 36 months, Slumbersac baby sleeping bags have practical and secure press studs on the armholes to ensure your little one has a safe and secure fit.

Please refer to our Sleeping Bag Size Guide for further information on which baby sleeping bag you should buy, depending on your child's length and weight. Please note that our footed sleeping bags are generously sized so we do not recommend buying a larger size than you need.
